Mission Statement: I believe that God gave us horses to take care of as we would our children. By this I do not mean we should bring them in the house and read them bedtime bible stories! Horses are very happy and healthy being horses. So the best way to love your horse is to find out what is NATURAL for HORSES and give them a life as close to that as you can.
My philosophy on training is to teach the horse to serve us with love and submission and without pain or fear. It is very easy for me to train up a horse using natural techniques. They will do their best to please us then because that it what they were made for.
I live and train on the CA Central Coast where all the horses are Bred, born and raised in the Mountains and Foothills. They become wonderful trail, show, ranch, farm, and all around versatile mounts. These horses are different in so many ways from horses that are brought up in a stable or small pasture. They are sure footed and brave. They can gait or run full out over terrain that a four wheeler would have difficulty maneuvering and they never hit a hole, miss a beat or spook at a rattle snake or foul flying up in their faces. When you go out to move or round up a heard of horses it is not like moving cattle! Once they see a horse and rider coming for them they are ready! They come out of the gate and are in a full gallop all the way to the farm and it is up to the rider (s) to keep up and turn them when necessary. It is full open riding and these Gaited Mountain Horses are experts at getting the job done. The transition from the East to the West has been a spiritual one for me. I thank our Lord every day for the beauty I see and the experience I gain from these beautiful, kind, service minded, gentle Rocky Mountain Horses.
